Ilfracombe is on the north coast of Devon, to the north of Braunton. There has been a settlement here since Iron Age times on the dominant hill, Hillsborough. It later grew up as a farming and fishing community, and t is now a wonderful seaside resort. The south-west coastal path also passes through the village. In the summer it is possible to catch passenger ferries to Lundy and also pleasure boats to Porthcawl in Wales.
